I was working on one of our customer's bike today, and decided to snap some pics while i was servicing his brake for a tutorial. You will notice that the lever has been modified to prevent cracking. I'll discuss that further in a different tutorial

Let's start by pointing your lever up. this way when we remove the piston, the fluid wont want to drip down on the floor.

Now you'll need to remove the lever blade

With a needle nose plier, pull the piston out of the lever

You will find a spring behind the piston. It may or may not be attached. Put the spring in a place where you wont forget it (I've spent some time looking for them)

Wipe the piston clean with paper towel or tissue paper until it is clean

Cover the piston with a thin layer of grease. The type of grease I am using for this tutorial is made by campagnolo. I don't think they come in this type of container anymore. Try to find some good quality grease. You want to use something that is a paste, not liquid penetrating lubricant.

Cover the whole piston. You dont want to make the layer of grease too thick, as it will slow down the movement of your piston. Be reasonable

Now you'll need to find yourself some brake cleaner

Spray it into the lever

With some paper towel, give the inside of the lever a good clean

Attach the spring behind the piston, and press them back into the lever

Dial the TPA adjuster all the way in (towards the minus sign) and install the lever blade

Tighten the screw down. Keep actuating the lever while you are doing this. When your lever stops returning, it means the bolt is on too tight. Loosen the bolt slightly until the lever blade can move freely

Put some water in the syringe. Try to rotate the syringe and collect all the small air bubbles into the big bubble.
在針筒裡倒些水,試著轉動針筒讓裡面的小氣泡集合成一個大氣泡,

Fill up a small bucket of water. You'll need to submerge the lever in this during the bleed

Unscrew the slave cylinder bleed screw, and attach the bleed hose. I know some of you will complain that the bleed hose should be attached with the syringe connected, but in my experience this is not necessary. As you push the fluid through, the air in the tube will be displaced quickly

Attach the syringe to the bleed hose

Remove the bleed screw in the lever

Find a way to keep the bleed hole on the lever submerged in the bucket of water

Start pushing the fluid until you empty 3/4 of the syringe

Press the lever all the way in, then back it out slowly and smoothly. Repeat this process 4 times. Make sure there are no suspended air bubbles in the water when you are backing the lever out. The lever actuation must be slow and smooth here.

Push the rest of the water through the brake

And that's all the steps you'll need to service and bleed your brake with water. I recommend doing a bleed once a month, and doing a full service once every 6 months. Doing this on a regular basis will help maintain the performance of your brake.

Kevin 這裏說的是以蒸餾水代替礦物油的灌水方式, 灌水的方式有一個好處, 過程中如果水有滲漏出來也沒有什麼要緊, 使用原廠指定的煞車液礦物油的話, 若是中間有螺絲沒照正確的程序鎖好時, 礦物油會滴出來甚至噴得到處都是, 如果噴到煞車皮或是輪框, 那就有得清理了.

you can still use this technique for mineral oil bleeds. you dont need to submerge the lever in a bucket of mineral oil. the whole point of the water is to get rid of little bubbles in the lever piston chamber. it's easier to move fluid than air.
