Finished the front dob wheel last night. also got some monty snail tensioners to stop the chain from getting loose all the time

Frame : Dob 26"
Headset : Meta
Fork : Meta (410mm, 35mm rake)
Stem : Pazzaz 120x20
Bar : Onza Carbon fiber cut to 710mm
BB : FSA 68x122mm
Front Brake : Hope mono trials with 7" hayes v2 rotor
Rear Brake : Magura hs33 with koxx bloxx blue and GU cnc lever. Bled with water
New Try-All 2 bolt booster

ok,that's real sick!

did you use only water or there were some oil left and mixed with water ?

only water. make sure you get all the oil out. then every 3 or 4 weeks you can drip a little bit of mineral oil on the seals in the lever and in the slave cylinders

KEVIN 的 MAGURA HS-33 煞車油用清水而已啊! 根據HS-33的使用說明, 假如沒有MAGURA專用的剎車油可用時是可以暫用其他的油品如蔬菜油代替, 但是建議還是要使用指定油.

使用水代替油會有甚麼差別呢? 照理說一樣是液態的物質都是不可壓縮的都可以傳導壓力, 問題是水與油的熱傳導不一樣, 對剎車皮磨擦時產生的熱會有不同的反應, 還有水對剎車內部的組件比較會有氧化的可能, 我是大概這樣想, 細節就要問物理學家小江了.

water has less viscosity than oil, makeing the lever feel much faster. your pads retract faster too, so you don't get that slow dragging feeling when you let go of your brakes.

make sure you use distilled water, not water with minerals in it.

I remember there is another point saying that oil have higher boiling temperature than water, when the temperature reach the boiling point, the air inside will have certain effect, but as far as the design of disk brake variable, some have air space and some have no air, I think the result will be different too.

And bike trial use brake not so violent as downhill riding, that make difference too.

there's not that much modulation with hs-33. i don't even think there is enough heat generated from disc brakes during trials use.

Well, some North America automobile become overheated in summer of Taiwan, the maker have to make the tropical spec for some area.

Don't worry about it. Taiwan is more humid than North America. You can get more water in the air. The only thing that will evaporate is you. Not the water in your brake. But I think maybe I'll run the water instead of oil in HS33 if the feeling of modulation is really sick.
